Instructor: Bernard Lau, John Spiers, Neil Yamamoto, et al.
Aikido uses circular movements (pivoting, entering, circling) from a stable center to overcome and control opponents. Starting with gentle exercises to learn the basic movements, students move up into ever more advanced techniques.
Lau Sensei (Seattle Police Detective, retired) has been practicing aikido since 1954, and is one of a handful of westerners whose first certificates were signed by the founder. John Spiers and Neil Yamamoto practiced under Hirata (Yoshihiko) Sensei and Lau Sensei since 1971.
